This Privacy Policy explains how VELO, LLC ("VELO," "we," "us"), collects, uses and shares information when you use [VELO domain] and our services. VELO is a marketplace that connects homeowners in Louisiana with independent providers of home and outdoor services.

Information we collect

Information you give us

  • Account details: name, email address, mobile phone number, password, and your role (customer, service provider, or technician).
  • Property details: service addresses, gate codes and access notes, and the photos you take of your property.
  • Service details: the services you request, notes to providers, scheduling preferences, ratings, and problem reports.
  • Provider details: business name, contact information, services offered, service area, license and insurance information, and payout details.
  • Messages to us: anything you send to our support team.

Information we create or receive

  • Property measurements: lawn, flower bed, driveway and walkway area, window count and number of stories. We estimate these from aerial imagery of the address, and technicians may confirm them on site.
  • Job records: quotes, prices, before-and-after photos taken by technicians, checklists, and completion times.
  • Provider referrals: when someone invites a service provider to VELO, they give us that provider's business name and contact details. We use them only to contact that provider about joining VELO, by email or a personal phone call, never by automated text message, and we delete them if the provider tells us they aren't interested.
  • Payment information: payments are processed by Stripe. We receive the card brand, last four digits and payment status. We do not store your full card number.
  • Device and usage information: browser type, IP address, pages visited, and similar technical data collected when you use our website.

How we use information

  • To create and manage your account.
  • To price services, including estimating property measurements and prices from past jobs.
  • To send quotes, match jobs with providers, schedule work, and process payments and payouts.
  • To send service notifications by email, and by text message if you opt in.
  • To handle ratings, problem reports and support requests.
  • To verify providers' licenses and insurance.
  • To keep our services safe, prevent fraud, and meet legal obligations.
  • To improve our services, including our pricing estimates.

How we share information

We share information only as described here.

  • With providers you hire. When a provider is asked to quote or is assigned your job, they see your name, service address, access notes, property photos and measurements, and the details of the job. Providers never see your payment card details.
  • With customers. Customers see the business name of the provider assigned to their job, the technician's first name, and job photos.
  • With service vendors who work for us: payment processing (Stripe), text messaging (Twilio), email delivery, website hosting and data storage, mapping and aerial measurement services. They may use the information only to provide services to us.
  • For legal reasons: to comply with law, respond to legal requests, or protect the rights and safety of our users and others.
  • In a business transfer: if VELO is merged, sold or reorganized, information may transfer to the new owner under this policy.

We do not sell your personal information.

Text messaging

If you opt in to text messages, we use your mobile number only to send the messages described in our SMS Terms. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help at any time.

We do not sell or share your mobile number or SMS opt-in data with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All the above categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.

Your choices

  • Update your information at any time in your profile.
  • Stop text messages by replying STOP, or by turning them off in your profile.
  • Stop marketing emails with the unsubscribe link in any marketing email. Service emails about your jobs and payments continue while you have an account.
  • Delete your account by emailing support@[VELO domain]. We delete or anonymize your information, except records we must keep for legal, tax, payment or dispute purposes.

Data retention and security

We keep information for as long as your account is active and as needed for the purposes above, including tax, accounting and legal requirements. We use administrative, technical and physical safeguards to protect information. No system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children

VELO is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. We will post the new version on this page and change the "Last updated" date. If a change is significant, we will notify you by email.
